Competition
On March 27th I was checking weight before a competition. That day I was attacked by one of the competitors (she’s 30, but in a different weight class than mine) and I don’t know why she did it. I know that recently her husband started a fight with my coach which could have provoked her. She came after me, and shot pepper spray in my face twice, resulting in severe burns to my face, eyes, and respiratory tract. The pain lasted for hours and I could not get over it. I couldn’t breathe and my face was burning. I tried to wash it out with water, but it wasn’t very effective. Even the doctors couldn’t do anything, although they did offer me a sedative (which in any case can’t be applied before the competition).
I spent half the night with police, and the other half trying to sleep, but I couldn’t. Come competition day I felt terrible; I was nauseous, dizzy, and had a fever. I found the strength to come forward and continued to fight. At these events I set 5 records in both Russia and the IPA world federation. But I am terribly dissatisfied with my performance. I know I could show better results, but alas, this situation interfered with all my plans. As of recently I ‘m in the hospital with no improvements.
