European Championships, Baku 2014

265kg @ 82.5 21 yrs old

My experience!

We landed in Baku, Azerbaijan one week ago. The city was beautiful and the people very welcoming! It was so great to see old friends and meet so many new people!

The day of weigh ins, I went to the 24 hr weigh-in and made the 82.5lb class! This was my first time competing in this class in 3 years!

The day of competition, I competed in the 2nd session in the full power equipped division, junior and open. I squatted an all time PR of 265 kg (585lbs) which moves me up to #14 on the all time list in the 82.5kg class! It was wonderful to PR and I was incredibly happy AND I DROPPED A WEIGHTCLASS. However, I went for a 4th attempt (after being 2nd to last in my flight) and they did not allow me the full 3 minutes before my attempt of 273.5kg. Unfortunately before I unracked the bar, I timed out 🙁 so No Lift. I have never been so confident in my squats or felt that good at a meet, I am sure I would have gotten that 273.5kg 🙂

Bench was rough due to my weight loss, my shirt did not fit correctly 🙁

Deadlift was good! I got the World Record of 211kg (464lbs) and it was easy, in a VERY loose METAL deadlift king suit.

Overall I am satisfied with the results of only 3 weeks of training!

A special thanks to Ano and Minna Turtiainen! And congrats to the Amazing Ano Turtiainen for a new Sumo Deadlift PR and World Record of 387.5kg! Amazing!
