Why do I Love Powerlifting?

A lot of my friends ask me why do I do power lifting.  I got in to lifting weights to become a better dancer and tennis player.  But that still doesn’t answer why I compete in the sport.  I could just lift weights for dance and tennis and never have to compete.  I love being strong but I could be strong and not compete.

The more I think about it the easier it is to answer the question.  I compete in power lifting because of the people around me and others that compete.  My teammates at HBP are crazy but I love them.  They support me and treat me like they love me too.  I may be only 11 years old but they don’t treat me like a baby.  But its not just my teammates that make this sport great.  I have seen support from professional powerlifters and from people on other teams.  Gracie V (from DCS Pack) is one of the best powerlifters in the world.  She sent me a shirt, cool nail polish, and a piece of her good luck charm.  How cool is that?

At the meet in Orlando, I had so many other lifters cheering for me.  Everyone wanted everyone to get every lift even if they were on different teams.  How many other sports have that?  Many of the girls from Orlando Barbell have said cool things about me online since.  Those girls rock.

The answer to question of why I do powerlifting is simple:  power lifters care about each other IMG_0301
